The day
A day in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch or Constantia, tasting at estates that have been making wine since the 1680s. The Franschhoek wine tram runs an open-top loop between the cellars, so nobody has to think about driving.
The Cape winelands sit in a ring of mountains an hour from the city, and the estates are as much about architecture as they are about wine: whitewashed Cape Dutch gables, oak avenues and cellars cut into the hillside. We build the day around what you drink, whether that is Stellenbosch Cabernet, Franschhoek Semillon or Constantia's dessert wine, which Napoleon had shipped to Saint Helena. Lunch is at an estate restaurant, and your driver stays sober so you do not have to.
